I have been verbally harassed so many times in Baltimore.
While living in Hampden, I was walking to a shop on “The Avenue” and passed a bunch of men waiting for the bus. They started to yell at me, first things like “Hey girl. Cutie. Babe. etc.” I kept walking pretending not to hear them. It was about 7 pm, almost dark, and I was a bit frightened. One of them, obviously angry by my ignoring him, started to shout after me…”HEY BITCH. WE’RE TALKING TO YOU. STUPID BITCH. THINK YOU’RE TOO GOOD? THINK YOUR PUSSY DOESN’T SMELL LIKE EVERYONE ELSE’S?”
I kept walking and didn’t respond. I was disgusted and felt like I needed to bleach my brain.
A few weeks earlier, I was walking to my apt’s office to pick up a package when I passed 3 young boys sitting on the sidewalk. As I passed, the one boy (prob age 11) shouted “HEY BITCH, NICE ASS.” His friends started to laugh. I turned around and said “What did you call me?” They didn’t speak. I said “Don’t ever talk to any woman that way and NEVER call me or anyone else a bitch again.” He said “Sorry. I will tell my dad. He’s the one who taught me.”
Disgusting and sad.
Hollaback Baltimore!

This is what I hate the most: that men are breeding and teaching their sons that. What’s wrong with these parents?
