“They are adding up to the point that I now feel nothing but a hostile atmosphere” – Yelitza’s story
Around 12:00pm, while walking to class at [university], a man walking in the opposite direction slowed down, got real close to my face and in a raspy voice said, “I’m a lick your a**hole and stick my d*** up in it.” He looked really pleased with himself while saying this to me. He continued walking. I continued walking. It seems like I have an interaction like this every other day, but they are adding up to the point that I now feel nothing but a hostile atmosphere while walking around this city. Today’s incident was one of the more vulgar and verbally abusive incidents. Usually, I ignore cat-calls on the street but I was truly disturbed by this one. I was interested in working in Baltimore when I finished my studies, but this sort of thing is one main reason I will cut off all ties to Baltimore once I graduate.
