Shouldn’t have looked in his direction – Jami’s story

One evening I was heading home with a group of musicians from a conference in Okoboji. We got hungry and decided to stop at Burger King for a quick late dinner. Waiting in line to put in my order, I could feel someone’s eyes glued to me.

Don’t look, don’t look, don’t look, don’t look. You know you’re gonna make it worse if you make eye contact.

*Peek* DAMNIT.

The second my eyes met the guy in line who was staring at me, he started licking his lips and making kissing faces/noises at me.

I felt a combination of sick, wanting to disappear, and intense rage.

At the same time I wondered HOW is no one else in line seeing this?! I wanted to charge at him, rip the tweezers out of my purse and start stabbing him in both eyes.

But lucky for him, the only thing I managed to do in that moment was quickly turn away and start up a conversation with one of the people I was traveling with.

I wish I had called him out.
